Dear Abbey,
I feel as though I might be bipolar because I have multiple mood swings. My boyfriend says I need to get checked out because I get upset at him a lot and keeps telling me that I'm bipolar. Can you tell me if I’m bipolar or not so I can shut him up?
Love, I’m about to swing something at him!
Dear I’m about to swing something at him!,
I understand your frustration towards your boyfriend for telling you that you are bipolar. According to many sources, people who suffer from mood swings don’t always suffer from bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder stems from a malfunction of neurotransmitter in the brain. A visit to the doctor can further tell you if your mood swings are in fact a symptom from bipolar disorder. If you indeed have a family member who is indeed diagnosed with bipolar disorder, especially an immediate family member, you have a high risk of also having it. A trip to the doctor with an explanation of the behaviors that have come to your attention is what is best needed for your situation.
Love Abbey.
